Beltrami County Historical Society seeks candidates for the 3/4 time position of Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for overall leadership, management, and administration of the History Center, including: working with the Board of Directors to develop and implement BCHS goals and objectives, training and supervising staff and volunteers, developing and implementing programs and exhibits, curating the collections, overseeing the budget, and advocating on behalf of the organization. Applicants should possess strong leadership, communication, and networking abilities, and enthusiasm for the mission of BCHS. Position requires evening and weekend work, including regional travel for meetings.
The candidate selected for employment must possess a valid driver’s license and will be required to successfully pass a criminal background investigation prior to beginning employment. Four metro area historical societies (Anoka County Historical Society, Dakota County Historical Society, Ramsey County Historical Society, and Scott County Historical Society) are seeking the services of a highly qualified archaeologist (contractor) to complete a study of Alpha Sites in four metro area counties in a process that includes public engagement. First consideration given to proposals received by 5 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2017. Contractor is expected to be selected between January 6 and 18; project must start by June 15, 2017, for a 12 month period. Project conditional upon receipt of grant funding. Nicollet County Historical Society Executive Director
The Executive Director supervises the everyday operations of the Nicollet County Historical Society including, but not limited to, site administration (five sites), collections management, interpretation, programming, marketing, fundraising, public relations, and fiscal management. The Executive Director works with the NCHS board to ensure the long-term direction and viability of the organization. S/he acts as the public face for the historical society in the communities it serves by participating in local committees and organizations, interacting with government officers,engaging area businesses, and working with other museum professionals. The Executive Director is responsible for managing society finances. The Executive Director oversees the preservation and interpretation of the Society’s permanent collections. Minimum Qualifications - B.A. in History, English, Business, or related field experience. The Executive Director should have management experience supervising staff and finances.
