Minnesota Regional History Groups
Network with colleagues in your geographic area!
While not an official arm of MALHM, regional groups are an important way for history professionals to connect. MALHM Board Members are members & leaders of their local groups, and MALHM representatives regularly meetings.
Central Minnesota has dozens of history organizations and we welcome you to explore our local history!
Includes Benton, Meeker, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Sherburne, Stearns, Todd, and Wright counties. ​
Includes not only city & county historical societies, but also groups that focus on neighborhoods, preservation, and business history. It meets 3-4 times per year to share ideas and hear speakers.
A registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, supports tourism, continuing education, networking, and grant writing within the 12 counties it serves. It also creates traveling exhibits and has produced a book.

North Shore Historical Assembly
Perhaps the oldest of the coalitions, formed in the early 1930s with Cook, Lake, and St. Louis County Historical Societies, as well as Thunder Bay Historical Society. The group's goal is to promote historical knowledge of the North Shore of Lake Superior through presentations, papers, and addresses at their biennial meetings held in each county on an alternating basis.
Formed with groups in the Northeast area of the state. A group of people representing local history organizations that meet regularly to exchange history-related information and events with each other and the community.
Park Region History Coalition
​Includes Clay, Wilkin, Traverse, Otter Tail, Grant, Stevens, Douglas, and Pope Counties.
Includes not only city & county historical societies, but also groups that focus on neighborhoods, preservation, and business history in Ramsey County.
South Central History Collaborative
Includes Sibley, Nicollet, Brown, Watonwan, Martin, Le Sueur, Blue Earth, Waseca, and Faribault counties.
South East History Group
Includes Goodhue, Rice, Steele, Dodge, Wabasha, Olmsted, Winona, Freeborn, Mower, Fillmore, and Houston counties.
South by Southwest
Includes Pipestone, Rock, Murray, Nobles, Cottonwood, and Jackson counties.
Washington County History Network
Includes local and county historical societies of Washington County.
A collaboration of the county and area historical societies and museums of 10 counties in West Central Minnesota.
